Buried Treasure: Comparing Mangrove Blue Carbon Data Across the Mesoamerican Reef Ecoregion

Analyzed data from the Coastal Carbon Atlas to calculate Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) stocks in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras, comparing estimates across scales to support regional carbon inventories and decision-making processes. Presented initial findings in a professional talk and in a poster session at the Western Society of Naturalists conference in Portland, OR. Manuscript in progress addressing cumulative SOC stocks, SOC estimates by sediment core, the impact of measurement depth, and the quality/quantity of each country’s accessible data.
